Abnormal topological refraction into free medium at subwavelength scale in valley phononic crystal plates

چکیده

In this work we propose a topological valley phononic crystal plate and extensively investigate the refraction of modes into surrounding homogeneous medium. This includes two sublattices resonators (A B) modeled by mass-spring systems. We show that edge states confined at AB/BA BA/AB type domain walls exhibit different symmetries in physical space energy peaks Fourier space. As result, distinct behaviors, especially through an armchair cut edge, are observed. On other hand, decay depth these localized modes, which is found to be solely determined relative resonant strength between scatterers, significantly affects patterns. More interestingly, outgoing traveling wave zigzag interface becomes evanescent when operating deep subwavelength scale. realized tuning average strength. only exist along particular outlet they can couple with both states. also present near-ideal monopole dipole emitter based on our structure.

Waveguiding in two-dimensional piezoelectric phononic crystal plates

We investigate the possibility of designing phononic crystal-based devices for telecommunication applications using materials commonly employed in microfabrication. We focus our attention on a phononic crystal made of a square array of cylindrical holes drilled in an active piezoelectric PZT5A matrix. Two different structures are considered, namely, a freestanding phononic crystal plate and a p...

Complete phononic bandgaps and bandgap maps in two-dimensional silicon phononic crystal plates

It is shown that it is possible to obtain complete planar phononic bandgaps in square and hexagonal (honeycomb) lattice phononic crystals formed by etching a periodic array of circular holes in a thin silicon plate (or membrane). Also, better bandgap properties are obtained using the hexagonal lattice structure; and, with practical structure sizes, it is possible-to-obtain a gap-to-midgap ratio...

Evidence of the existence of complete phononic band gaps in phononic crystal plates

We show, by measuring the transmission through a phononic crystal (PC) plate (slab), the evidence of the existence of large phononic band gaps (PBGs) in twodimensional PCs made by a hexagonal (honeycomb) array of holes etched through a free standing plate of silicon (Si). A CMOS compatible fabrication process is used on a Si on insulator (SOI) substrate to realize the devices. More than 30dB at...

Negative refraction of elastic waves at the deep-subwavelength scale in a single-phase metamaterial.

Negative refraction of elastic waves has been studied and experimentally demonstrated in three- and two-dimensional phononic crystals, but Bragg scattering is impractical for low-frequency wave control because of the need to scale the structures to manageable sizes. Here we present an elastic metamaterial with chiral microstructure made of a single-phase solid material that aims to achieve subw...

Negative Refraction of Acoustic Waves in a Two-Dimensional Phononic Crystal via FDTD Simulation

Negative refraction of acoustic waves in a two-dimensional (2D) phononic crystal is studied by numerical simulation based on the finitedifference time-domain (FDTD) method. We calculate the phonon band structure of 2D phononic crystals, consisting of metal cylinders placed periodically in a liquid. By comparing several combinations of materials for metal cylinder and liquid, we analyze the depe...
